This qualification is the NEW replacement qualification for Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) (603/3846/5)
Centres will have until Sunday 31 July 2022 to familiarise themselves with the new qualification documentation and incorporate it into the relevant course designs.
All courses running from the 1st August 2022 MUST be registered with this new qualification.
Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to become a paediatric first-aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification is intended for learners already working or preparing to work in the industry and it meets the requirements for paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
How long will it take?
To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake 15 hours of learning, with a minimum contact time, excluding breaks, of 12 hours over 2 days.
Topics covered
Topics include the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first-aider and providing first aid for an infant or a child who is unresponsive. The qualification also covers how to administer first aid to an infant or a child with head and spinal injuries, who is choking or suffering from anaphylaxis.
Assessment method
This qualification is assessed by practical demonstration and multiple-choice theory test.
