Highfield Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)


Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to become a paediatric first-aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification is intended for learners already working or preparing to work in the industry and it meets the requirements for paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage. 

How long will it take?

To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake 15 hours of learning, with a minimum contact time, excluding breaks, of 12 hours over 2 days.

Topics covered

Topics include the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first-aider and providing first aid for an infant or a child who is unresponsive. The qualification also covers how to administer first aid to an infant or a child with head and spinal injuries, who is choking or suffering from anaphylaxis.

Assessment method

This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and written/oral questioning.

Highfield recommends that you contact the relevant government department in the country that you want to deliver the training to ensure that there are no additional approval requirements. It may be that you are required to register as a training provider within the country itself. Highfield approves Centres based on its own criteria, and does not represent any other organisations or departments.
